Repairs
Our engineers and technicians are fully qualified to repair hydraulic cylinders of all shapes and sizes. All repairs are carried out in our purpose-built, well-equipped workshop. Every caution is taken to ensure the configuration and standard of quality and safety on our repaired cylinders matches that on our manufactured ones. We cut no corners!
Baker Hydraulics offers the following repair services:
- Seal replacement (minor) & refurbishment
- Re-chroming
- Manufacturing of replacement parts (if needed)
- Change out/over – offering a replacement cylinder while we repair your broken down one
The repair process starts with an emptying of the cylinder. Our engineers then disassemble the parts and do a thorough assessment. Once you give a go ahead on our quote, the repair work begins. If the cost to repair exceeds the cost of replacing the cylinder, we will advise you accordingly. Once the cylinder has been repaired, we test it to its normal operational pressure to ensure 100% safety.

We are fully equipped to carry out a number of tests and offer genuine advice. Some of the other services we undertake include:
- Inspection of Cylinders: Our engineers can inspect your cylinders if you think they are not operating the way they are meant to.
- Testing of Surface Finish: For a hydraulic cylinder to sustain its optimal performance over a long period of time, it is essential for the surfaces of its components to be configured precisely to manufacturer-specified tolerance levels. We offer surface finish testing to ensure your hydraulic cylinder surfaces are accurately measured.
- Pressure Testing: Before we dispatch our manufactured hydraulic cylinders, we do a batch pressure test on them. We have test rigs with a capacity of holding cylinders up to 10000 psi.
- Testing the Depth of Chrome Plating: Majority of hydraulic cylinders these days have chrome plated piston rods. An accurate depth of this chrome plate is essential for durability of the cylinder. While we repair your hydraulic cylinder, we can check the depth of the chrome plating and recommend if replacement is needed.
- Weld Testing: Baker Hydraulics offers weld testing to ensure the weld is not a potential safety hazard. We use x-ray as well as penetrating dye to test the welds.
- Hardness Testing: We offer testing of hardness of the surfaces of hydraulic componentry and repair them if needed to meet ideal hardness levels.
